Kourtney and Kim Kardashian take New York on their new reality show

Kourtney and Kim Kardashian take New York on their new reality show. Their show may be entitled Kourtney and Kim Take New York, but the Kardashian sisters needed a little help on the first episode of their spin-off reality series.

As Kim and Kourtney looked over plans for the opening of their shop Dash, rapper Kanye West was invited over to give the girls some important style advice.

Viewers of the show, which sees the sisters opening the New York branch of the clothing store, saw the rapper flirt with Kim as he looked over plans for the shop.

Looking cool in a pair of aviator sunglasses and a black suit, the rapper was a bit surprised at the news that the sisters intended to open the store in two weeks.

But he did accept Kim's flirty invitation to her 30th birthday party in Las Vegas.

Clearly looking for romance in the Big Apple, Kim informed viewers that she was 'newly single and I've never taken the chance to be single.'

She and Kourtney went for a girls night out, where Kim ended up running into an old actor friend who she starred alongside in 2009 TV series Beyond the Break.Kourtney and Kim Kardashian take New York on their new reality show.

Caleb Hanie's Pack mentality

Caleb Hanie's Pack mentality. Maybe it's a good thing that the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers only meet in the playoffs every 70 years. These two storied franchises apparently don't bring out the best in each other - at least not in January.

Each team played one strong half of football, just not the same half. The Packers took the first, the Bears the second, and when it was all over, Green Bay had a 21-14 victory, the NFC title and a trip to the Super Bowl to face the Pittsburgh Steelers.

But the Packers were nearly derailed by a 25-year-old quarterback out of Colorado State with three years of NFL experience, most of it holding a clipboard. Caleb Hanie came this close to being able to drink free in Chicago for life when he rallied the Bears to two fourth-quarter touchdowns and very nearly forced the game into overtime.

"You don't expect to play on a day like this, but that's how it goes sometimes," Hanie said.

Two interceptions, one for a touchdown by Green Bay nose tackle B.J. Raji - "one of those 'oops' type of things," Hanie said - the other on fourth and five with 47 seconds remaining, ended the Bears' hopes. Still, his performance - 13 of 20, 153 yards, a touchdown and a 65.2 rating - got him a lot of praise from both locker rooms. Hanie understood perfectly well just how unusual that is for a losing quarterback.

"Throw two picks," he said. "That's the only time you're going to get congratulations [for that], when they don't expect you to do anything."Caleb Hanie's Pack mentality.

Sundance Breakout Star Elizabeth Olsen Talks Child Actors And Avoiding The Olsen Twins Brand

Sundance Breakout Star Elizabeth Olsen Talks Child Actors And Avoiding The Olsen Twins Brand - Around this time last year, Elizabeth Olsen was known—if she was know at all—as the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley. She was enrolled in NYU’s theatre program and had been auditioning for Broadway and Off-Broadway plays. But she’d made the conscious decision to avoid the career arc—filled with Hollywood highs and tabloid lows—of her sisters.Only last January did she begin actively seeking out movie work. Now here she is at the Sundance Film Festival, about to achieve breakout status based on her two new films, “Silent House” and “Martha Marcy May Marlene.” It’s been a long time coming for the 21-year-old, but it was worth the wait if it meant not being exposed to the same spotlight that Mary-Kate and Ashley were as pre-teen stars.

“I think that’s why I waited such a long time until I was comfortable as a person to start working professionally,” Elizabeth told MTV News. “It’s been what I wanted to do since I was seven or eight but I never wanted to be a child actor. I never wanted to be a brand. I want to be an actor. I feel good in my own skin. I just want to make movies and do theater.”

So what’s the key to avoiding getting sucked into the celebrity spotlight? Well, not thinking of yourself in those terms, Elizabeth explained.

“I think it’s just staying grounded. It’s not something I think about. I think it’s something media puts upon people,” she said. “I don’t think it’s something that people healthily think about, like, ‘Now I’m a celebrity!’ I don’t think people should think like that. I hope that whatever press comes about from Sundance will further the films’ hope for getting distribution.” Sundance Breakout Star Elizabeth Olsen Talks Child Actors And Avoiding The Olsen Twins Brand.

Patience proves key as Guillard makes quick work of Dunham

Patience proves key as Guillard makes quick work of Dunham. Dana White can't call Evan Dunham undefeated anymore.

Dunham came into the main event of Saturday night's UFC Fight for the Troops 2 event with an 11-1 record officially, but pretty much anyone who had their eyes open during Dunham's fight against Sean Sherk in September was aghast that the split decision went against him. White was among the most relentless in referring to Dunham as an unbeaten fighter. And if you're employed by the UFC and the big boss man says you're unbeaten, then you're unbeaten.

But not any longer. Melvin Guillard (27-8-2, 1 NC) made sure of that, using a refined combination of patience and explosiveness to hand Dunham a loss that no one is going to question. The end came just 2 minutes and 59 seconds in, with Guillard using straight punches and hard knees to put Dunham on the canvas, then connecting with a couple of more knees before referee Mario Yamasaki jumped in.

As the crowd of some 6,000 military men and women at Fort Hood in the small city of Killeen, Tex. stood and cheered, Guillard was quick to return the love. When TV announcer Joe Rogan stepped into the cage for an interview, Guillard ignored his first question and instead addressed the helicopter hangar full of soldiers. "I really want to say thank you so much for everything you guys do," he said. "My uncle was a four-star brigadier general in the Army, retired. I love you guys. And, you know, if I can come in here for under 15 minutes and give you guys a good show, I'm proud of myself. Patience proves key as Guillard makes quick work of Dunham

PM names unity government to quell Tunisia unrest

PM names unity government to quell Tunisia unrest . TUNIS (Reuters) – Tunisia's prime minister has appointed a new unity government, but his decision to retain many ministers from the old guard may upset ordinary people, whose four weeks of protests forced the president to flee.
Prime Minister Mohamed Ghannouchi, who brought opposition leaders as well as key 'old guard' ministers into the coalition, promised to release all political prisoners and to investigate those suspected of corruption.
Interior Minister Ahmed Friaa told state television at least 78 people had been killed in the unrest, and the cost so far in damage and lost business was 3 billion dinars ($2 billion).
The wave of protests against unemployment, repression and graft that unseated President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali has hit stock and currency markets from Jordan to Morocco as investors wondered whether the Tunisian unrest would spread abroad.
The prime minister said the ministers of defense, interior, finance and foreign affairs under Ben Ali would keep their jobs in the new government.
Among opposition figures, Najib Chebbi, founder of the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP), was named minister of regional development, Ettajdid party leader Ahmed Ibrahim higher education minister and Mustafa Ben Jaafar, head of the Union of Freedom and Labour, health minister.
"We are committed to intensifying our efforts to re-establish calm and peace in the hearts of all Tunisians. Our priority is security, as well as political and economic reform," Ghannouchi told a news conference.
About 1,000 people demonstrated in the capital Tunis on Monday, some saying they would not accept members of the ruling RCD party, prominent in the new coalition, because they would block needed reforms.
Security forces used water cannon and teargas and fired shots in the air to disperse the protesters.

Apple faces Jobs questions

Apple faces Jobs questions. SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Apple Inc is set to report a stunning 50 percent jump in quarterly sales on Tuesday, as its iPhone and iPad excited holiday shoppers, but the consumer electronics powerhouse may face more pressing questions about the health of iconic chief executive Steve Jobs.
The world's most valuable technology company announced on Monday that Jobs would take a medical leave of absence without specifying a return date or detailing Jobs' condition, leaving investors in an information vacuum.
The surprise announcement -- made on a U.S. market holiday -- dragged Apple shares down more than 6 percent in European trading. They are up 62 percent in the past 12 months on the Nasdaq stock exchange.
"Steve Jobs is seen by the market to be a major force in Apple's strategic direction," said Richard Windsor, global technology specialist at Nomura. "If his pancreatic cancer has returned, one could be quite worried."
Jobs' latest leave comes nearly two years after he took a six-month break to undergo a liver transplant. He also took time off after pancreatic surgery in 2004.
Apple has not dwelt on Jobs' health, and Jobs himself asked for respect for his privacy in a memo to employees made public on Monday.
In Jobs' absence, it will be up to chief operating officer Tim Cook to decide how much to tell investors about the absent chief executive, and what Apple plans to do with its $50 billion-plus pile of cash and investments. Apple faces Jobs questions

Pirates take record 1,181 hostages in 2010

Pirates take record 1,181 hostages in 2010. KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia – Pirates took a record 1,181 hostages in 2010 as ship hijackings in waters off Somalia escalated, a global maritime watchdog said Tuesday.
Attackers seized 53 vessels worldwide last year — all but four off the coast of Somalia — according to the International Maritime Bureau's piracy reporting center in Kuala Lumpur.
The number of hostages and vessels taken "are the highest we have ever seen" since the center began monitoring attacks in 1991, its director, Pottengal Mukundan, said in a statement. "The continued increase in these numbers is alarming," he said.
The Somali attacks accounted for 1,016 hostages held for ransom, the center said. Somali pirates are currently holding 31 vessels and 713 crew members of various nationalities after hijacking another four ships so far this year, it said.
Somalia's position on the Horn of Africa means pirates can use its long coastline to capture ships. The country has not had a functioning government since a dictatorship collapsed in 1991, and an international flotilla of warships patrolling the waters has struggled to prevent hijackings.

Peaking river splits Australian town in 2
MELBOURNE, Australia – Authorities urged residents to flee more Australian towns Tuesday as swollen rivers carried deadly floodwaters deeper into another state and worsened a natural disaster the government says may be its costliest ever.
Victoria state is the latest region afflicted in a weekslong flooding crisis that has left 30 people dead and caused once-a-century floods in many areas.
The Victoria city of Horsham resembled a lake after the Wimmera River overflowed its banks Tuesday and bisected the community before starting to recede in the afternoon. About 500 homes in the city of 14,000 people were surrounded by water.
Officials sent three emergency alerts overnight to residents in the path of the high water.
"At 5 a.m. they were out on the megaphone just yelling 'evacuate'," West Horsham resident Brett Insall said, but he stayed at his home. "I'm not too worried about it. It's only water."
State Emergency Service Incident Controller Stephen Warren said the water would slowly recede through the day. "We may even be able to get the (Western) highway open late in the day and actually have some access later tonight," Warren told reporters. Peaking river splits Australian town in 2

Louisiana SPCA resume provide animal manage services for New Orleans

Louisiana SPCA resume provide animal manage services for New Orleans. The SPCA has furnished the services for more than 60 years, but the two sides recently broke off talks on a new agreement because the organization said it could not provide services for the $1.7 million the city was offering in 2011.Under the new agreement, the city has agreed to increase that figure to $1.92 million.
"This is a big win for the residents and animals of New Orleans," Landrieu said. "As was done with so many other contracts, our negotiations have been guided by my fiduciary responsibility to secure quality services for a price the city can afford. The LA/SPCA has been providing quality animal control and enforcement services for decades. As great community partners, their board, volunteers and donors have stepped up. We are pleased to have a fiscally responsible agreement in place for the next four years."
"The LA/SPCA is nationally recognized for the standards we set in animal care and sheltering," said Ana Zorrilla, CEO of the LA/SPCA. "We look forward to continuing these high quality services our citizens have come to expect for the animals of New Orleans."
Under the new agreement, the LA/SPCA will be paid $160,000 per month, or $1.92 million annually, for full animal control services, with annual consumer price index adjustments each January.

Undercover Boss

Undercover Boss. This episode of Undercover Boss actually differed quite a bit from previous episodes for a few reasons. First of all, how rich was this guy?! I mean, it’s not surprising that these CEOs are wealthy, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen a participant on Undercover Boss who was this loaded! A private jet, a huge closet full of Gucci clothing, and probably one of the biggest homes we’ve seen on Undercover Boss. I wouldn’t have thought with all of the big companies they’ve showcased on previous episodes that I would be most impressed with how rich the CEO of BELFOR was. I’d never even heard of BELFOR before this episode! Just goes to show how much money is out there in this world.
